Outdoor spaces at business and commercial buildings need to be appropriately lighted at an affordable price. Many business owners take advice from light experts, although not all suggestions are accurate.
LED corn light can fulfill all your outdoor lighting needs, but the darkness at the business premises can affect your customer experience and safety. Bright lights can prevent unfortunate mishaps. In this blog, we will discuss what you should consider while purchasing LED corn lights.
Before purchasing the LED corn bulb, you should consider a few things besides just design and wattages. The color temperature of the LED corn light, lumen output, performances, and the mounting base are a few things you need to ensure finalizing the bulb.
Old bulb replacement
Knowing the information about your old bulb is
important before replacement, such as wattages. According to the type of bulb
you are replacing, you can check the compatibility of the new LED corn light.
Some traditional bulbs are skinner or shorter, so you need to ensure that the
new LED corn bulb fits in the fixture without any lengthy modification.
Few examples of watts compatibility differences; a 9 watts LED corn light is compatible with 35w traditional lights. 16.5 watt LED is equivalent to 60 watts.
Understanding Lumen Output
Understanding the lumen output of your old
bulb is essential to replace it with a new LED brighter bulb. Generally, older
bulbs produce fewer lumens and consume higher energy than LED corn lights.
Therefore, switching to LED corn bulbs will produce more brightness while
consuming low wattages. This also helps in saving extra energy.
LED corn bulb comes in various range of lumens depending on the wattages, such as 18W=2790lm, 60W=9300lm, 100W=15500lm, 120W=18600lm
Product approval/ratings and warranty
Always purchase approved bulbs for better
performance and safety. Various approval certifications for corn light include
UL listed, ROHS Compliant, DLC Listed, and energy star certified.
For example, LED corn light with a UL rating tells you that the product is safe for use at damp locations and shockproof. On the other hand, ROHS complaint refers to an unhazardous product. DLC listed and energy star certified is for energy-saving & rebate purposes.
Many companies offer a manufacturer warranty between 3 to 5 years, which varies from product to product.
Mounting Base for Corn lights
Match your mounting base before switching to
new lights. Typically, two bases are available in corn bulbs, including E26 and
E39.
Fixtures of E26 base are easily available in
the market as it is the standard base and easy to install. On the other hand,
E39 is the larger base than E26, and it is also called a mogul base and is used
with HIDs.
Always choose LED corn lights that are
compatible with your base. Otherwise, it will not work.
