Some fixtures require an additional part to complete the retrofit, and there are two main types of tombstones used in the lighting industry - Shunted or Non-Shunned. For direct wiring applications, you’ll need a non-shunned rapid start socket for proper operation with your new fixture type, which will have been installed if it’s already T12, then get one that matches.


Prevent any accidental disconnects of power, and the correct tombstones must be used. If an installation has T8 type fixtures and they need changing over from shunted rapid start sockets so as not to cause shorts or anything else dangerous when working with live wires near your business’s electrical system, then you should let a qualified electrician do this work because there’s some rewiring involved in getting everything set up correctly!


Electronic Ballast or Compatible Tubes


The compatibility of these electronic ballast compatible tubes makes them a popular option for those looking to upgrade or replace their old lighting. But, unfortunately, they’re explicitly designed with plug-n-play fixtures in mind, so you can’t install them if there are no electronics inside the institution, even though it might work otherwise!


LEDs are an excellent replacement for outdated and often unreliable fluorescent light bulbs. In addition, LEDs don’t require any installations. Instead, they need to be replaced with an electronic ballast-compatible version that will work regardless of which company’s product you buy!

It can be not easy because traditional lamps require less energy than fluorescents and typically produce about 70% light per unit power consumption (lumens). So, in general, if we want to figure out how many lumens our new installation needs- it’s better to look at that output value instead!
